Statement of Policy Regarding Communications in Connection with Collection of a Decedent’s Debt, Project No. P104806

This statement needs to be a bit more specific. End the first change with "except in cases in which the contents of such communications violate the law". The third change should emphasize that such violations WILL result in prosecution. I understand such documents are useful for planning purposes - but they should be worded so as to reduce their usefulness to those who abuse the law for a living. Further, the use of Privacy acts by debt collectors and lending institutions to obstruct management of debts by spouses has become a significant driver in loan defaults. Perhaps modifying the law to terminate all debts immediately on end of live would be an equitable remedy for this situation. Please ask Congress to consider that. Thanks. David
