Raccoon dogs are among the most misrepresented and mistreated animals for the fur trade. Please do now allow the fur industry to use the deceptive name "Asiatic raccoon" on jackets' labels and advertisements. Raccoon dogs are not raccoons at all, but a species in the Canidae (dog) family, and are often skinned alive for their fur in China. Consumers who wish to avoid buying raccoon dog fur, or companies that wish to avoid selling it, will be duped by this inaccurate and misleading industry-coined name.Raccoon dogs are among the most misrepresented and mistreated animals for the fur trade, and the Federal Trade Commission is proposing to make it worse by allowing the fur industry to use the deceptive name "Asiatic raccoon" on jackets' labels and advertisements.
