Care labels are meaningless if they are not enforced. I own a dry cleaners and we do around 350,000 to 400,000 pieces a year. I have at least 5-10 garments a week that are mislabeled and fail in the recommend cleaning process. I point consumers to the FTC care label pamphlet and they really don't want to hear it. I used to get cooperation form the local point of sale vendor. I no longer get that. I use the get cooperation form the manufacture I don't get that anymore or as much. I am stuck arguing with the customer who is threating me with small claims court action and Better Business Bureau complaints. My fault following the recommend FTC care label I would rather see some teeth and some action put toward the importers or manufactures to back their FTC carrel labels accuracy instead of using the garment cleaning in the field to bare the brunt of the mis labeled garment. Also Something quick need to happen. These consumers need their garments now not in 2 months. Make it the law where a garment that fails will be returned to place of purchase for a refund. Also the place of purchase must keep on file a record of the garment. How many of you still have the receipt from a garment you bought a year ago that failed 1st time cleaned Then the point of sale vendor will be able to get refunds from their vendor. I have written letters of complaint to the FTC about vendors and manufactures and have never had a reply. I have to assume you don't care or are not doing your job. If you don't do any of the above why even exist. I will be writing my congressman to maybe consider dissolving the FTC they are at this time ineffective and of no use
