I have no problem with facial recognition technology used for its intended purpose, Law Enforcement. My fear is one that isn't out of the realm of possibility, that it can be sold for use in advertising or direct marketing. Such a technology was displayed in a SciFi movie - Minority Report. Local city goverments will not invest in this technology as the price tag may be too high but I envision the same type of companies that run red light cameras coming in and setting these things up. They could recoup money by selling the data to retail establishemnts to track your shopping preferences. That I believe would be an invasion of privacy - but to have the ability to soley check people out for criminal activity, warrants, non-payment of child support - to find these people in an instant of what sometimes could take months....I have no problem with it.
