FTC Seeks Public Comment on Cardinal Health, Inc.'s Application to Sell Nuclear Pharmacy Assets to Patient Care Infusion, LLC

If Cardinal Health should be investigated for monopoly practices the FTC should not be looking at specific markets, they should look into what they are doing in the arena of national GPO (group purchasing organizations) contracts. This past year UPPI was granted a dual source award along with Cardinal Health from HPG (Healthcare Purchasing Group). The HCA hospital group is a member of this organization which told the 2 entities come back with a super tier since they are the largest hospital chain in the USA. UPPI competatively beat Cardinal's pricing but at the last minute Cardinal tells HCA that they will be responsible for a very large financial penalty for the software agreements they have in place, which when these software agreements were brought up to the HPG president his words were "I have that taken care of." If the commision were to look into what hospitals that Cardinal has wrapped up in national contracts in the State of Texas, I bet they would find that most, if not all of them in El Paso, are locked into a national contract with Cardinal Health.
