The concern I raise with collection agencies and how they catalog demographical information is when it has to do with identity theft. I believe they pass on this stored information to other collection agencies even if the identity theft has been resolved with the original agency. I was also alerted that Cell phones will be dialed to make collection calls, which we the consumer will be charged for. Collection agencies utilize automated phone dialing programs and if cell phones are allowed to be called, this could put consumers over their minutes. I'm very concerned about this. I want to understand that these agencies provide a service to companies trying to collect debt from delinquent individuals, but when it comes to identity theft, it is a no win situation due to their persistance.
