The lack of randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) evidence is generally considered as grounds for dismissing the use of supplements (or any other intervention), and for precluding the establishment of clinical guidelines for their use. When such RCT evidence exists, and the study is well-deisgned, then claims should be allowed given the wide margin of safety of these supplements. To deny such claims is to deny consumers of potentially useful products that are, again, quite safe to use and thus potentially beneficial to the public health.
