Announcement of Public Workshop, "Examining Health Care Competition" ("Health Care Workshop") Project No. P13-1207
Allowing nurse practitioners to provide primary care services may alleviate the strain of the primary care physician shortage on the healthcare system without diminishing the quality of care patients receive. However, federal and state policies restrict nurse practitioners from practicing to the extent of their training. To incentivize the use of nurse practitioners in providing primary care services, nurse practitioners and physicians should receive equal reimbursement for providing equal services.
