To: Federal Trade Commission Dear Mr. or Madam, I am a motorcycle rider and a member of the American Motorcyclist Association, the Harley Owners Group, and the Phoenix Motorcycle Club. My main transportation is a motorcycle. I am very concerned with E-15 legislation because for small engines it is a known fact it can cause damage. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has acknowledged that ethanol in gasoline can damage internal combustion engines by increasing exhaust temperatures which indirectly causes component failures. I ride over 20K miles a year. I ride all year long. I look for non-ethanol gas stations. They are far and few between. There are additives that I can add to my fuel but that cannot mitigate the fact that I am burning ethanol. We created diesel for on and off road use. Can we create a gas for motorcycles and other small engines like lawnmowers that do not contain ethanol? I need your help and I am willing to help. That is the reason for the letter. I want to help stop E-15 and ethanol from being offered as the only alternative and there not being offered a non-ethanol alternative at the pump. Will you consider this solution? Please add that a non-ethanol dispensing station be available as well as ethanol. The fuel should be available at the ratio of 1 pump per 6 pumps or less of ethanol at every fuel station? This would help me as a motorcycle enthusiast and the community at large in protecting small engines of unnecessary damage caused by ethanol gasoline fuel. This would not be an added expense to the fueling stations. Ask them for their input? If the bigger engines can run cleaner fuel that is great but in the meantime let us not forget that that the majority of Americans cut grass run a chainsaw or other small engine during the year. Thank you, from one proud American speaking out for equality. Sincerely yours, Timothy A. Counts Chesterfield, VA
