Announcement of Public Workshop, "Examining Health Care Competition" ("Health Care Workshop") Project No. P13-1207
Dear Members of the Committee and the FTC: Unfortunately, the juggernaut is out of the barn. But doing and saying nothing is a form of acquiescence. We out here are small potatoes, and between government and commerce are being squeezed to extinction. This is not about "competition" (which sounds so self-serving to us physicians - those of us who remember why we're here), but about great patient care with continuity. The individual, independent Family Physician is the last great hope, but also the last great dinosaur -- that we all lose, to our peril. We are also the last great free marketplace of medicine. You can also see some more of my thoughts -- for what they're worth --- on what I call the "widget-ization" of physicians at: http://www.aafp.org/online/en/home/publications/news/news-now/ehr/201104...
