This new rule is worse for consumers than the existing rule.
1. Regarding the manufacturer's warranty, allowing anything significant to happen on the BACK of a form is an invitation to deception. Do you understand that many salemen hold down the forms while they are being signed so the consumer never even sees the back?
2. The FTC advice regarding "As Is" sales is simply wrong under our state law. This will discourage or place obstacles for VALID claims.
3. The proposed rule allows dealerships to ignore KNOWN defects. So when the young mother whose husband is deployed in Afgahanistan drives off the lot with their two kids and the brakes fail, it's their fault that they did not have the brakes inspected before they drove off the lot?
Please do not go forward with this. You are dialing back the clock on meaningful consumer protections on a purchase which is very important to millions of Americans.
