The warranty box when checked by some dealers means that they have purchased a warranty thru a company that they use and is in fact self funded and not really a warranty but a company that only administrates the claims. Most of this money is returned to the dealer at a later date and the consumer should be aware of this. Also the balance of factory warranty should be explained as drive train only and what it covers. It is to easy for a dealer to check no warranty/as is and they know the car has a problem There should be a box that the dealer has done a safety inspection and the car has passed, the part that a consumer should have the car inspected by there mechanic is old school and a good inspection will cost about $125.00 or more depending what part of the country. I have been a used car manager for over 30 years and the best advise is to drive the car for at least 1 hour and about 25 miles in traffic and the highway at all speeds.
