These calls are completely annoying and unnecessary. My 82-year-old father receives these types of automated sales calls and it is very distressing to him. He also hates rushing to the phone only to be met with silence (he has hearing loss and doesn't always hear the phone ringing the first time it starts ringing). It is particularly disturbing to him because I put his phone number on the DO NOT CALL list. I fully support any TSR proposal that will prohibit these calls and minimize call abandonment time.
