I don't want to hear from the companies that I do business with (i.e., Verizon, Sears, Central Blood Bank, etc.). I don't think that it's fair to consumers to be obligated to listen to sales pitches simply because they had a prior relationship with the business. Even worse is the abandoned calls - I race to answer the phone and there's no one there. It undoubtedly happens when I am preparing a meal, or when I have just sat down to enjoy it. The phone works both ways - if I want something from a company, I CAN CALL THEM! The phone system shouldn't be used for telemarketing.
