I strongly oppose businesses being allowed to send me junk advertising or spam on my private phone line. My time is valuable and is wasted on these calls. I feel violated when, uninvited, these spammers use my private unlisted phone number to leave long recorded messages which insult my intelligence and pollute my mind with manipulative tacky advertising. One reason the FTC might consider allowing these kinds of calls might be in the interest of commerce--i imagine these people argue that they lose business if not allowed to make these calls. I guess their researchers tell them this is true. But they haven't asked me. I form a bad and mistrusting impression of any company that takes advantage of me in this way and I develop a contemptuous attitude toward them. As time goes by, i give less and less business to companies in general for fear that they will use my personal information to take advantage of me and rudely try to force themselves on me against my choice. Spam in all its forms has damaged the quality of my life and i am very disappointed that the government has not given more protection against junk postal mail and email spam. I LOVE the national DO NOT CALL registry. That has improved my life quality, that is the way things should be. I am pleading with you, do not allow this harm to be done, this violation of my peace and privacy, this provocation of unhappiness in my life. There is no redeeming quality to this rude advertising. Please continue to make policy in the direction that has been set by the public serving Do Not Call registry, a consumer protection that really works and is empowering to regular people. thank you for listening.
