When I signed on the for the FTC Do Not Call Registry, I was under the impression that I could prevent phone calls of any kind from businesses with whom I have no dealings. I am incredibly disappointed and strongly against the possibility of such an exemption/loop hole being created. When people sign up for a Do Not Call List, they REALLY don't want to be called. By anyone...period. Not a machine. Not a live person. Not anyone. The whole notion that people are not opting out of receiving automated messages because they want to receive them is ludicrous. If they are anything like me, they are even MORE annoyed at the idea that someone had the audacity to have a computer dial their home with an idiotic message and they just hang up. Please do not allow this. I see no reason to have any faith in the Do Not Call registry or in the FTC/FCC if they are prone to going back on their promises simply to appease businesses.
