I have signed up for the no call list because I do not wish to be called by telemarketers for any reason. My phone is something that I pay for so that I can communicate with my friends & family & others that I give my phone number to. telemarketing companies use lists of numbers that are not necessarily active phone numbers that are not necessarily assigned to individuals. One method they use is to have a computer dial a list of numbers and if they are answered make a note of the time & have a salesperson/ telemarketer call back at that time to try to sell me something . My phone is a tool for me to use paid for by me & abused by telemarketing companies. I wish to be on any no call list I request & not have to call each individual telemarketing company to beg to be left alone. I pay for my phone and I should be able to select who I wish to call me and stop those I do not want calling me with the least inconvience to me. I think the no call list is one of the few thing's our government has done to help the average person. The governing bodies are getting more and more distant from the average citizen.
