I cannot stress how much I hate telemarketing calls. I am ill and have a difficult time getting to the phone. Should companies be allowed to use automated calling, my phone will be ringing constantly, waking me up, and I will have to answer it or live as slave to my answering machine, screening all calls and having my tape taken up by long advertising messages. Then I have to call each individual company and fight to be taken off the list? Why should I have to waste my precious time fending off an annoyance I did not invite??? And I have NEVER received a telemarketing call from a company with whom I had already done business. I am not the only one....think of all the elderly people and people more ill than I. Not only this, but if they are now allowed to call cell phones, people pay per minute, from the time they answer their phone. Why should I pay for companies' calls that I don't want? Many people use their cell phones for emergencies only, as well.... I use mine only for work. I cannot have my phone ringing with unsolicited calls while I am in meetings and I should not have to turn it off, silence the ringer, or screen my calls, or PAY FOR THEIR CALLS. Nor should I have to go through the hassel and again, per-minute expense, of sifting out telemarketer calls from my voice mail only to delete them. Please don't do this to the American public. We shouldn't be harrassed and inconvenienced in our own homes by unsolicited calls of any type, none the less a mechanical voice who then has the nerve to ask you to call it back. Thank you, Lisa Mayer
