I'm not really sure what the issue is because I didn't really have time to read through the entire document but from what I read, it sounded as if companies would be allowed to use pre-recorded messages to call customers. Wasn't the entire point of the "Do Not Call" list not to bother people? It doesn't matter if it's a live person or pre-recorded, I don't want to be called by anybody that is calling to try to get my business. This is the first that I've heard of this proposal and to see that we only have until Jan. 10th (today) to respond is ridiculous! The reason that companies are saying that they have a "low opt-out" rate on pre-recorded calls is because they make it so difficult to get off their list. The customer has to either wait until the end of the message or call back a number to be removed from their lists. Please stop telemarketers from calling!
