Comments:
I am a consumer and I strongly OPPOSE any amendment of the Telemarketing Sales Rule that weaken the FTCs rules. I do not want to receive any more pre-recorded calls than I do now, and also do not want any changes in how abandoned calls are measured. I find pre-recorded calls to be more intrusive than live telemarketing calls. Live calls permit me to immediately request that my number be removed from calling lists. More importantly, pre-recorded calls can be difficult to understand and do not allow me to ask for the name of the company. Please do not weaken the rules government the Do Not Call registry. If in doubt, go with the stronger rules that benefit consumers. (The FCC should be acting in the interests of consumers and should be ashamed for not standing up for consumers when given the opportunity.)
