I wish to express my strong opposition to the proposed amendment of the Telemarketing Sales Rule to create an additional call abandonment safe harbor to allow telemarketing calls that deliver a prerecorded message to consumers with whom the seller on whose behalf the calls are made has an established business relationship. Americans, including myself, rejoiced with the end of telemarketers who unabashedly invaded our privacy in the home. The proposal will mean one step foward and three steps backwards because the privacy we all now enjoy and chersih will once again be invaded telephonically. Amereicans beleive in freedom of choice. The effect of the proposed amendment will curtail that freedom once again. I do not want my privacy invaded by unsolicited telemarkers. The fact that the telemarketers are from businesses with whom I have done business should not affect my right to privacy in the home. The choice should be mine to make alone. Please deny the proposed amendment and support the right to privacy we are entitled to have.
