I have protected my privacy and security by placing all my phone numbers on federal and state do not call lists. I do not wish to have my phone number EVER made available to anyone under ANY circumstances without my EXPRESS consent. I do not want to see the FTC relax any laws that protect my privacy and safety by permitting random generation of of numbers by companies who wish to contact me without my consent. I expect to be the one who determines whether or not to permit access to my phone, and I WILL NOT PAY TO HAVE TO TELL ANYONE NOT TO CALL ME. It is the responsibility of the FTC ro protect my right to privacy, my right to protect myself against identity theft, my right to use my telephone for the purposes that I intend to use it for, and not to make it possible for someone else to use MY phone on MY time for THEIR purposes. I don't know anyone who will permit or pay for the violation of their privacy if the FTC permits telemarketers to subtract OUR minutes for THEIR use. There are people who may wish to have the option to receive product and other information via telephone and who do not seek protection from these activities by placing their phone numbers on a do not call list, but those of us who have elected to seek the protection offered by placing our phone numbers on these lists do not wish to see these choices diluted. Businesses have a myriad of ways to reach all of us. Indeed it is hard to avoid input from the businsess world, so thier options are many and continuous. Their percieved need to usurp my privacy and threaten my safety is not greater or more important than my need to maintain my privacy and safety and to utilise any and all controls I have available to ensure this protection. Nor do they have the need to override laws that were in place with regard to a product that I have purchased with a specific use in mind. Nor do they have any need to make me pay for their commercials. My minutes are used for important reasons, to provide a sphere of privacy and safety for my own work. I will not permit that to be violated.
