My business phone is forwarded into my home, where my office is located and where I conduct the business of this non-profit organization. We are an all-volunteer organization of over 1,000 members who come from all corners of our county. Each volunteer works from his/her own home - there is no "central" office. I have no one to help me with my day-to-day work, and spend anywhere from 8 to 15 hours a day at my job, seven days a week. Nothing angers me more than to have to make a run for the phone and then find a telemarketer on the other end. If I should need any information, or any products that I don't already have, I prefer to initiate the call myself. I consider those telemarketer calls to be a gross invasion of my privacy. Particularly annoying are the prerecorded calls, which cause one to have to wait until the "caller" recognizes the "callee" as having answered the phone and then proceeds with an unwanted message. This most often creates dead air time of approximately 5 - 10 seconds, enough to get my blood pressure up good and high that I wasted my precious time running for the phone in the first place. The "Do Not Call" law was one of the most-welcomed laws I've ever seen in my 76 years; please don't ruin it!
