IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THIS NEW PROPOSAL WILL JUST UNDO THE BENEFITS OF THE DO NOT CALL LIST. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING????? The proposed FTC change to give telemarketers the right to use pre-recorded messages to call consumers on the DNC list, but, only if those consumers have an existing relationship with the company IS A BAD IDEA. This proposed change means tha all the people who signed up on the DNC list to stop harassing calls from telemarketers, could start getting those calls again. Under the proposal, the pre-recorded messages would allow the consumer to "opt out" via an automated entry right on the spot. WELL, I THOUGHT I HAD ALREADY OPTED OUT BY REGISTERING WITH THE DNC LIST. YOUR CHANGE WILL MAKE ME HAVE TO GO THROUGH IT ALL OVER AGAIN WITH EACH AND EVERY TELEMARKETER WHO CALLS MY NUMBERS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! The FTC says the plan would bring its rules right in line with those of the Federal Communications Commission and would not have a dramatic impact on consumers. I DISAGREE WITH THIS - IT WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPACT OF AGAIN GETTING ANNOYING AND OBNOXIOUS MESSAGES LEFT ON MY ANSWERING MACHINE AND/OR VOICE MAIL. ALSO, I WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO THESE MESSSAGES (EITHER LIVE OR FROM MY ANSWERING MACHNE OR FROM MOICE MAIL) IN ORDER TO OPT OUT. PLEASE DON'T PASS THIS PROPOSAL !!!!!!!
