Under NO conditions should you allow the telemarketers to work around the "Do Not Call" list. Sometimes we were receiving up to 9 calls an evening, and because of my husbands work, we must answer every call. The existing "Do Not Call" law should be expanded to include charities and political organizations. During the presidential campaign, we received as many as 5 calls an hour from each of the two political parties. Calls are much more intrusive than junk mail. They interupt activities such as sleeping and eating, and cause accidents when you rush to the phone for a call that you are expecting. This is especially disturbing for senior citizens, who are frequent targets for unwelcome calls.
