I think the proposal is a bad idea. Its only purpose seems to be to increase the ability of companies to "spam" their customers via telephone without the customers having the opportunity to ask questions or say, "I'm not interested." I get enough spam as it is, thank you. That the spam would be coming from companies with whom the customer has an "existing relationship" is irrelevant. The fact remains that this proposal has nothing to do with helping the consumer maintain his or her privacy. It's only about helping businesses invade that privacy. We already live in an age of decreasing privacy and shelter from advertising. Please don't make it worse! For a change, I'd like the government to be more interested in protecting MY interests instead of those of business!
