Comments:
Giving companies more ways to annoy customers is never a good idea. Response to the Do Not Call list should have demonstrated that. Calls from telemarketing people are irritating, calls from telemarketing machiens are worse. They often run an answering machine out of time: take excessively long to transfer to a live person, and - most dangerously - frequently fail to release the line promptly when hung up on. This presents an immediate risk to the health and safety of the call recipient since the telephone line is unavailable in an emergency.
