Please do not relax the restrictions in the current law, particularly in the area of call abandonment. The biggest nuisances we have experienced occurred when were working outside evenings or weekends. Typically we have dutifully dropped what we were doing, rapidly cleaned our hands, and hastened to the telephone—only to be greeted by silence or a dial tone when we picked up the receiver. This is criminal behavior. Our state laws punish those who would harass us by repeatedly ringing our doorbells and running from the premises. Please do not countenance a loophole that could condone that kind of harassment over the telephone network.
