To whom it may concern: Not only is it insulting to answer the phone to a pre-recorded sales or solicitation message, the thought that companies I have ALREADY TOLD not to call can use these proposed amendments to force me to listen through their sales pitch - wasting my time and money - to get the phone number I must waste more time to call to tell them to not call again is unbearable. The FCC is supposed to protect the consumer - at least that is what it seems to be constantly trying to do by fining television stations over content. Why is it then that you are considering putting these companies ahead of the will of MORE people than who voted for the current administration? If the telemarketers go bankrupt, they go bankrupt. It seems to me the free market demands that if there is insufficient demand for a service or business IT SHOULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS. The people seem to be saying they do not want this service invading their homes and lives and privacy. The US government is an elected one representing the will of the majority of voters. It is not a government meant to represent the will of commerce or business. If the people say NO, it is not up to a bureaucracy to say otherwise. We are innundated with ads to buy, buy, buy and we should have come control over who can and can't use OUR resources and most importantly time to invade our privacy for their benefit. Were it up to me, I'd ban charities and political campaigns from calling as well. I would also make EVERY pre-recorded phone call illegal except those issued during a civic emergency. The bottom line is that the do not call list should not be amended in any way to allow an increased call volume - and most especially should not be amended to allow anyone to call anyone else by any means who is on the do not call list for the purposes of solicitation, business information or any other purpose except a civic emergency. Thank you for your time.
