The "Do Not Call" List is a great thing. Please do not let it be tampered with. I am very concerned about the exception for pre-recorded calls that is being considered. If anything, pre-recorded call are even worse than live solicitations. You cannot tell a person to take you off their call list and, hopefully, not hear from them again. Not even that. You cannot talk to a recording. The argument by the ad companies that we want to hear from businesses that we trade with is wrong. The truth is we don't want to hear from anyone trying to sell us something. Period. I know that I make no exceptions. Moreover, this is not even a law they should even want to water down. I can assure the ad companies that I will treat with hostility any solicitation that does come through, and the result will be the exact opposite of the one desired by the company doing the selling. Thank you for this opportunity to voice my opinion. Sincerely, Stephen M. Cote.
