I'm a private citizen, a consumer, a homeowner. I value my privacy and resent intrusion by the long arm of commerce, especially by telephone and e-mail. To me, it matters not whether a robot is making a commercial call to me or a human being -- both are equally obnoxious. Not only that, the concept of an "established business relationship" is laughable, considering how tenuous the connection between various branches of the same company or partnership companies that try to reach me. Moreover, I do not see why the Federal Trade Commission should bow to the wishes of a business I don't regard as legitimate in the first place: if telemarketers can't call, and their businesses fail, I weep no tears. I have no doubt that advertising dollars will continue to flow through the economy otherwise unimpeded.
