I am firmly against this amendment, as it will backtrack the effectiveness of both the FTC action creating the National Do Not Call and the 1991 Telephone Consumers Protection Act. Allowing these voice blasts will encourage the use of telemarketing by removing much of the cost associated with it and will cause the general public to be disturbed by a one-way phone call--a loudspeaker into our homes--without granting any real value to the consumer.
