It takes longer to listen to a message on an answering machine and get it deleted than it does to hang up on a phone soliciter! I DO NOT want messages left on my machine. "No Call", means "NO CALL"! It's would be very frustrating to come home from work at the end of the day only to have to clear out your answering machine and decide which calls to return, when what you need to be doing is working with the kids on their homework and getting dinner started!
