These pre-recorded calls at sales calls, no more, no less. If I want to purchase an item, I will review offers mailed to me, either electronically or by postal service. Allowing this exception to the Do Not Call Registry guts the purpose of the registry. Also note that pre-recorded callers do not identify themselves at the beginning of the message. The recipient of these calls must listen to the entire message to find out who it is actually from. Most of us just hang up; however, the pre-recorded message ties up our phones until it is done. Although businesses cannot register for Do Not Call, we have registered our private lines. However, even in the fact of Do Not Call, all five of our private lines rang at the exact same time last week with the exact same message: Congratulations, you have been awarded .... Please do not gut the Do Not Call Registry by carving out an exception for pre-recorded messages. Thank you.
