Comments:
I am strongly opposed to any action that would allow or continue to allow any company or other agency, regardless of any pre-existing relationship I may have with it, to make telemarketing sales calls to me without my explicit, unforced approval. I have customer relationships with thousands of companies. I do not want to receive sales calls from any of them. Such calls are annoying, invade my privacy, waste my time, and tie up my phone lines, preventing me from using services for which I have paid. Opt-out mechanisms are impracticable, since opting out would require contacting thousands of companies. I have neither the time to contact these companies, most of whom I am not even aware, nor the addresses and telepone numbers for these companies. Further, because opt-out processes consume my time, they waste my time.
