I do not like the idea that I can receive calls to clog my voice mail. I opted to join the "Don not call" list to avoid the excessive amount of telephone solicitation calls. This has made things so much better at home. I was tired of the endless calls in the evening and late night (8:59PM) calls. Since I have to pay to retrieve my voice mail messages, I do not appreciate the possibility of the "answering-machine spam" that is being considered. These companies will not be paying for my voice mail, so I do not want them leaving me unwanted messages. If I am interested in what they are selling, I will contact them. I do not want them to contact me. If these companies who want to "spam" me are willing to pay for my voice mail services I subscribe to, then this "spam" would be accepatable. But since they are not, I do not want this passed. My personal freedom is being interupted, and it will cost ME for the call!
