DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT MARKETERS TO CHANGE THE RULES MEANT TO PROTECT CONSUMERS. In no way should regulations on telemarketers be loosened or broadened. This is an obvious attempt by those groups who are limited by the rules to circumvent them, and only for their own financial interest. There is no benefit for consumers for these changes. As there is no recourse for those of us whose privacy is invaded and abused by telemarketers, we solely depend on the FTC to protect us from these calls. Everyone on the do not call list is there simply to prevent these calls in any form. I make no distinction between a company I have a relationship with, and those I do not. Their solicitations on my personal phone line which I also use for business, are unwelcome. If any changes are to be made to the rules, they should certainly be more restrictive and provide greater protection to those on the list.
