No new safe harbor should be created to permit direct marketers to call anyone, ever, for any reason! They are as welcome as a toothache -- a bad one -- and they should be banished to Greenland and be governed there in person by all in government who champion their cause. 1. Having a relationship with the caller is totally irrelevant to the real issue, protecting the public. 2. Why would you even consider such an absurd idea? Do you have any idea how outrageous this proposal sounds to people and how ridiculous and distant this makes government and those in government seem to people? 3. We have already opted out when all of the rules should require us to opt in before any of these creeps can call or email us! We have relied for a long time now on NOT being pestered in choosing our business relationships and giving out our phone numbers and email addresses, so don't change the ruiles on us now. 4. There has been NO harm because telemarketers are no longer allowed to pester people. They cannot complain that they are shut out of being able to pester us, because they can still pester us by mail, tv, radio, etc. without injecting themselves into our homes while we sleep, eat or need theb phone so we can call 911 !! That is enough. If they can't compete in those or other venues, then tough. There is an analogous rule in eminent domain law under which it is well-established that the government is not required to pay for loss of auto access to commercial land unless the land is left with NO access, even if the land is thereby stripped of value. 5. Providing these creeps a cheaper or easier way to assult people is not a legitmate concern or obligation of government. Why not just give these folks a right to break in my house whenever they want to and batter me with a club instead of a telephone and computer equipment? If we need or want them or their help, then we will call them or seek another solution. They are NOT calling us to provide any service that is needed urgently or that we can't get otherwise. 6.These bums are not providing any useful service and any claim that they are is outrageous and should be flushed. EVERYONE knows this, so why shouldn't you recognize it?They just want to make a buck at our expense. 7. I pay for the phone service, and these jerks should not be allowed to turn my phone into a weapon against my privacy and relaxation ( Are they willing to pay our phone bills?) 8. There is not and should not be any right to pester or loosened right to pester, especially when the pesterees cannot defend themselves or get even. If any regs are to be watered down then it should be the regs that favor these jerks. Protect the defenseless against the muggers. 9. If you establish this or any other safe harbor or loosen any, then add that the telemarketers and their officers and employees are required to furnish their names, addresses and all telephone numbers they have readily, so we can call them and discuss our business relationship with them when we want to. Just make this right to call mutual ! 10. The proposal to allow these home invasions to be conducted by recordings and machines is particularly obnoxious. We will be defenseless and won't even have the option to chew the intruders out - un-American! (It would also save them money if you tax us and just send them our money - no more absurd than this proposal.) 11. The abandonment safe harbor should be tightened. 12. Government has EVERY right to control this business activity in order to protect people. 13. You should be asking every day : What good is government that doesn't protect the people and wastes their money on proposals to hurt the people? Hopefully, you are just required to go through the motions for these jerks and will just say NO to them. Then, find a way to help us. 14. Thanks for the chance to be heard, but why not advertise this access? It is secret from the people.
