The proposed loophole would be much like terminating the Do Not Call List. It would permit companies to bombard the telephone subscriber with unwanted spam. And we all know when this would take place: at dinnertime. This would defeat the basic intent of the Do Not Call List. When the telephone rings there is no way to tell who is calling without going to the telephone. This would interrupt the dinner hour when families should have undisturbed precious quality time together as a family, something that is already scarce in these modern days. The FTC statement that the proposed change is intended only to bring FTC rules in line with those of the Federal Communications Commission is an argument that is so weak that it should be completely an explicitly discarded. It is obvious that the FTC intends to bend in the direction of big business special interests at the cost of the consumer. I am very strongly against such a change. Russell H. Michel
