I find the possibility of the phone numbers I have submitted to the FTC's do not call list being opened up to prerecorded messages unacceptable. If a phone number was a free service, then such a nuisance would be justifiable, as it is I am paying for a service and do not wish to be contacted by individuals or agencies to whom I have not given permission explicitly. My cell phone is on that list, and it is perpetually on so that business contacts and family can contact me. The last thing I need is to have my work interrupted by some automated call. It is an intrusion. If I desire a service, I will contact the provider. If I wish to donate to a charity, I will do so without them calling me. As a matter of principle I do not support any form of calling campaign. If you allow this amendment, you will violate the trust that was placed in you.
