When the Do Not Call list came into effect I was elated. Every evening prior to it I was bombarded with telemarketers attempting to shill their disreputable services and trying to make a fast buck. Since that time the number of calls I have received has dropped dramatically. Just recently I received a call at 8:46pm on a Saturday night. I lodged a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office and received a response very quickly. The Do Not Call list has been a great success. The very fact that the telemarketers have been lobbying against it shows what a success the list has been. When I heard of the proposed changes to the law I was apalled. I have no desire to be barraged with calls from an automated system. I work at least 46 hours a week and I value the time I have to myself. I do not wish for my peace and quiet to be disturbed by telemarketers again. If the changes in the law are passed it will just be one more instance where government has suborned itself to corporate America. Please make a stand against the telemarketers and do not allow them to get the changes in the law to disturb my peace.
