I am presently on the "Do Not Call Registry" and still receive unwanted solicitation. When I ask why I am being called, even though I'm on the the DNCR, I'm informed that they fall into one of the safe harbors. In many cases I don't remember establishing an "existing relationship", and find all solicitation an invasion of my privacy. I think the DNCR is one of the best ideas to come along and one of the few cases where I feel that the government is serving my interests. I would actually prefer the elimination of all safe harbors and require opting-in for all telemarketing. In the event the lobbying pressures are so great that this change is unavoidable, telemarketers should be taxed to help replace the taxes I now pay on my phone service.
