Please do not proceed with this amendment. It serves no end but to annoy and harrass individuals who have made their feelings about telemarketting abundantly clear. One would assume that telemarketers would be just as happy to know which people will refuse to do business with them, and thus be able to avoid the expense of contacting them. Consider the sort of people who would go out of their way to put their names on this registry: they are making a statement about their frustration with telemarketting harassment, and they are not likely to respond positively to any kind of message communicated to them in this manner. Also consider that these are the same people who are likely to go out of their way to pursue political action backing up their feelings.
