Allowing companies to direct pre-recorded telephone spam to individual subscribers is far outside the spirit of the Do Not Call List. The shady companies who operate these automated spam systems rarely provide a reasonable way for a subscriber to be removed from the calling list. In addition to being against this provision, I'd like to see a measure which requires companies I've had a supposed 'prior-business relationship' with, and the spammers they hire, be required to obtain prior written and signed permission from subscribers before making any spam call; automated or otherwise. Once again, I strongly oppose this measure. If passed, I believe congress should get involved and investigate the FTC's oversight in this matter as this provision is nothing more than a bad faith effort to circumvent the spirit of the law.
