This is a terrible idea. When the Do-Not-Call registry was passed we started getting fewer calls but then the political season hit and it seemed as if we were back right we started. As a result, we no longer answer the phone. And now you want to allow the telemarketers back in? What then was the whole point of having a DO NOT CALL registry? Under this proposal, any company can claim a prior business relationship with a target and just how many of us are going to be able to take them to court to prove otherwise? Opt-out has always been a flawed system because you have to take these calls in order to opt out which kind of defeats the purpose of the Do Not Call registry. The fact that so many have signed up for it is a free clue for you: We are sick and tired of these calls and want no more of them!! The DMA can go hang for all I care; they tried to make their living out of preying upon other peoples good manners not to hang up on them so I see no reason for their continued existence. In Short, we do not want more calls, we want less; get rid of the charities and political callers as well. If I want to give money to you, that is my choice and I will seek you out. Otherwise, stay away from my family.
