To whom it may concern: I signed up for the "Do Not Call" list for a reason- that I do not wish to be solicited to using the telephone for any purposes. This means I submitted my name and number so that people will not call me to sell me things- be it automated, human, or otherwise. I am very much opposed to any legislation that would change the "Do Not Call" laws for these reasons. I sincerely hope that there will be no changes to these laws that would afford any purchase on the part of telemarketing companies. Before the "Do Not Call" list, about 95% of the telephone calls we received were unsolicited marketing calls from strangers. Since then, we have received relatively few calls- perhaps one a week- all of which, I suspect, contravene the letter of the law. Please- no changes that would reflect any weaknesses in the law as it exists. Thanks for your consideration in this matter.
