I am writing in opposition to ammending the Telemarketing Sales Rule to allow telemarketing calls that deliver a prerecorded message to consumers with whom the seller on whose behalf the calls are made has an established business relationship. Considering the well-known shenanigans of the telemarketing industry, the proposed ammendment is just begging for abuse. The FTC has done a nice job in putting a leash on the telemarketers. Consumers have put up with too much of their crap for too long. Rest assured that any telemarketing calls I receive regarding an "established business relationship" will result in termination of that business relationship -- instantly. If you MUST ammend the rule, then I propose a "zero-tolerance" list of people that remain exempt from such calls, and that by default all members of the current DNC list are memebers of the "zero-tolerance" list as well.
