Except for the politiky crap you all left a 5000 foot diameter loophole for, we have almost recovered the phone system as a usefull communications device since this law took effect. Lets see if we can keep it that way for a while, like at least the rest if my life. To give an example, we were forced to consult a list of friends numbers on the wall before answering the phone during the last 3 weeks of the elections, and just plain ignored it for the last 4 days, as they were actually figureing out a way to look like legit local numbers on the callerid's. IMNSHO, that right there should be a prosecutable felony. Look, I'm paying for that phone service, not you, at over $105 a month currently. _I_'m paying for it, not you, so that _I_ can use it, not some jackass in FL with a watts line and 25 cd's worth of known good numbers. Now if that jackass wants to pay my phone bill, I'll put in a special phone routed to /dev/null just for his use. Abuse such as this is no more, nor no less a crime than if I tapped the cable company for free cable. Its called Theft of Service. The diff is that the cable company has enough lawyers to make life difficult for the perps, but when you guys turn into the perps, who do we, the victims, arrest? Do the words 'class action' have any meaning to you? And people think its funny/sad/add_your_own_emotions_here when somebody gets a gut full and "goes postal". What do they do when they perceive that there is no other recourse? As an agency, you were formed with a charter that basicly said to give us back a working telephone system, and I'd like to suggest that you stick to the agencies founding charter. If you are getting offers you can't refuse from all the gored cattle this act generated, then call the DA and have them arrested, for trespass, harrasemnt, bribery, whatever the DA can make stick to these teflon coated weasels called telemarketers. If they can understand the concept of honest work, suggest they find some. If not, a clue by 4 is in order. Feel free to self administer it. This *used* to be a democracy here in the US, a democracy where the majority ruled. If thats not good enough for you, you're welcome to leave, just don't let the doorknob hit you in the back as you are leaving, the rest of us don't want to get sued because you folks cannot walk safely. And finally, this editor sucks dead toads through soda straws, it removes anything that looks like a paragraph, making this all one big paragraph and extremely difficult to read. Something M$ wrote do doubt.
