I signed up for the Do-Not-Call registry because I *didn't* want calls! Extending access to the registry for additional calls to consumers benefits no one - the members of the list have already indicated that they do not wish to receive calls at those numbers, and have taken the affirmative action of so registering their numbers. As a targeted group, how can they be anything but the LEAST productive demographic for marketing calls?! This will only lead to decreased consumer confidence in the FTC. Consumers were promised that there would be no negative effect of registering for Do-Not-Call. Now, only a year later, the list is being specifically targeted for legislation permitting additional marketing calls. Why should I or anyone else trust the FTC for any future initiatives? KeS
