The reason I'm on the do-not-call list is because I DO NOT WANT TO BE CALLED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. Allowing companies to deluge me with pre-recorded messages is the WORST kind of breach of my trust of the government's ability to protect me against commercial intruders into my private home, because pre-recorded messages could be played to millions of phones with very little cost! At least if telemarketers have to pay a person to speak with me, then it reduces the benefits they reap and their motivation to invade my home, waste my time, and annoy me.
